Our Mission
Each one of us has an individual and personal relationship with Christ, Our Lord,
that we journey through and grow with in our lives. Our class is that community that we come together to share
our faith journies and express God's love to one another.
The Religious Education Program exists
to ensure that all youth of St. Columban Parish who do not attend the Catholic School
are provided:
·
Excellent educational instruction in the Faith.
·
Spiritual development through religious experience.
·
Group opportunities to experience the life of a Christian faith community.
·
Positive adult role models through instructors, Parish Staff, and lay resource people.
By providing this growth in spiritual
life, we are committed to preparing our children and youth for Catholic adult life.
Our History
St. Columban's School of Religious Education has been opened since 1970, educating millions of youths about their faith
in Christ.
We are honored and blessed to have Sr. Rosemary Hong Nguyen, of the Lovers of the Holy Cross order, as the school's
director. Her passion for Christ and spreading the faith to others adds to the warmth of the school's teaching philosophy.
In her spare time, Sr. Rosemary likes to sing, wrestle alligators, and sword fight. She also is a nationally ranked
ping pong player and a soccer afficianado. Her favorite films are "Ben Hur" and "Rambo."
Hung Tran is the returning instructor for the class. He likes ice cream and vacuums the stairs during rainy
days.
Hieu Nguyen is a new instructor for the class. He comes with great joy to the class, eager to share his faith.
KimChi Lam is a long time member of the Giao Ly program. She has taught at various youth religious education levels.
This year we are fortunate to have her in the 8th grade.
